Import and Export Review Laser Product Imports Decrease for the First Time in Six Years in 2022
As China's laser industry continues to undergo the process of localization, with significant improvements in the quality of domestic products, the domestic market share of laser products, including high-power laser equipment, light sources (fiber lasers, ultrafast lasers, etc.), optical components, control systems (chips, control software, and accessories), and crystal materials, has been steadily increasing in the past two years.
According to data released by the General Administration of Customs, the total import and export value of "lasers, excluding laser diodes" in China from January to June 2023 amounted to 9.229 billion yuan, a 2.42% decrease compared to the same period last year. The import value was 6.859 billion yuan, a 12.05% decrease year-on-year, while the export value was 2.37 billion yuan, a 19.16% increase year-on-year.
Although China still relies heavily on imports for high-end equipment, the industry of laser processing machines for various materials has made significant progress in the past six years. Domestic companies have increased their exports and actively explored overseas markets, entering a favorable development stage. With policy support, important conditions have been created for the development of high-end equipment in the industry.
